Brand and Meiers, the two women mentioned here as basically running the show, are names to watch when more vacancies come up down the road in years to come. David Frum thinks Meiers might be a dark-horse pick for Bush. Brand is younger - she was a year or two behind me at Harvard Law in the late 90s - but I have to figure she will be a judicial nominee some day. She graduated from HLS summa cum laude, which happens maybe once a decade.
